About Us - Indian Bureau of Mines

The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) established in 1948, is a multi-disciplinary government organisation under the Department of Mines, Ministry of Mines, engaged in promotion of conservation, scientific development of mineral resources and protection of environment in mines other than coal, petroleum & natural gas, atomic minerals and minor minerals.

MTS Registration Process

Registration is the first step to use the Mining Tenement System (MTS). It is mandatory under Rule 45 of MCDR 2017.

Start on the SSO portal

Choose new registration. Enter your GST or PAN (PAN for individuals) and verify your mobile number and email ID.

Select applicant category

Individual, Association of Individual, Firm, Company or Government (PEC cases). Fill the linked forms and personal details.

Select business activity

Choose your business activity. For Mining, also choose a sub-business activity.

Fill the activity form

Complete the form for your selected activity and upload supporting documents.

e-Sign and submit

Submit online to your Regional Office (RO).

Approval and registration

The Regional Controller of Mines (RCOM) verifies and approves. You receive your Applicant ID and Registration, plus an Intermediate Code or Mine Code where applicable.

Mining Tenement System (MTS)

The Mining Tenement System (MTS) is a web-based IT application covering the mineral concession life cycle and includes mineral-based business activities to a certain extent. It is a digital initiative of the Indian Bureau of Mines, the output of re-engineering of the conventional manual processes into a fully automated, digital and technology-driven system.
