MINERAL PROCESSING DISCIPLINE:
DIRECTOR ( Ore Dressing)
Director(Ore Dressing) is the Head of the Ore Dressing Division in the Indian Bureau of Mines. Director(OD) heads three Mineral Processing Laboratories and Pilot Plants which include Modern Mineral Processing Laboratory & Pilot Plant at Nagpur and two Regional Laboratories & Pilot Plants at Ajmer and Bangalore. Responsible to hold the charge of the Mineral Processing Division as a whole and for the planning, direction and management of applied research work of all the three Establishments. The work includes guiding investigations on bench and pilot plant scales on mineral beneficiation for development of process know-how, mineral characterization and beneficiation studies of exploration samples, low grade ores, wastes, rejects and tailings, mineral agglomeration, metallurgy, mineralogical study, chemical analysis of various ores and minerals. Responsible for planning of annual plans/schemes and projects of the Division, monitoring technical consultancy assignments including preparation of Techno-Economic pre-feasibility reports of beneficiation projects, in-plant studies of commercial beneficiation plants and suggesting remedial measures for improvement of plant performance. Responsible for maintenance of internet-based databases including development and operation of Mining Tenement System. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM.
CHIEF ORE DRESSING OFFICER
Chief Ore Dressing Officer is the overall In-charge of the Modern Mineral Processing Laboratory and Pilot Plant at Nagpur. Responsible for the supervision, coordination, planning and monitoring of Mineral Processing Laboratory & Pilot Plant, Mineralogy and Chemical Laboratories at Nagpur. Guiding applied research work on mineral beneficiation investigation, mineral characterization/mineralogical study, mineral agglomeration, metallurgy, chemical analysis of various ores. Supervising and coordinating beneficiation investigation between headquarters and regional laboratories. Preparation of annual plans/schemes. Supervising and conducting pilot plant scale investigation, mineral agglomeration and metallurgy. Review and finalization of process flowsheet and investigation report. Interaction, technical discussion, preparation of proposal for beneficiation and characterization. In-plant and field visits. Responsible for operation/updation of various modules of Mining Tenement System. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
ORE DRESSING OFFICER
Coordinating and conducting beneficiation investigation, characterization study on various ores and minerals in laboratory. Pilot plant scale study for development of process flowsheet. Mineral agglomeration and metallurgy. Supervising mineral processing and mineralogical study. Preparation and scrutiny of report. In-plant study, field visits and preparation of visit reports. Supervision of maintenance aspects of machinery, equipment and instruments in laboratory and plant. Responsible for updation of various modules of Mining Tenement System. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
DEPUTY ORE DRESSING OFFICER
Conduct beneficiation investigation, characterization study on various ores and minerals in laboratory. Experiments on laboratory scale and pilot plant scale for development of process flowsheet. Mineral agglomeration and metallurgy. Coordination for plan of test work, preparation of samples for unit operations, drawing samples for mineralogical study and chemical analysis. Interpretation of results, data and preparation of report. In-plant study and field visits. Maintenance aspects of of machinery, equipment and instruments in laboratory and plant. ASSISTANT ORE DRESSING OFFICER
Carry out experiments on beneficiation, characterization of various ores and minerals in laboratory for development of processes flowsheet. Assist in conducting pilot plant scale study. Preparation of samples for unit operations, drawing samples for mineralogical study and chemical analysis. Processing and documentation of results and data in respect of mineral beneficiation and characterization of ores. Assist in preparation of reports. To assist during plant and field visits and collection of samples. Responsible for updation of various modules of Mining Tenement System. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
ASSISTANT RESEARCH OFFICER
To assist in conducting experiment for mineral beneficiation, mineral characterization in the laboratory and beneficiation plant. Preparation of feed samples to unit operations and sampling of products for analysis and study. To draw time samples and record performances of various unit operations. To assist in processing and documentation of results and data in respect of mineral beneficiation and characterization of ores/minerals. Responsible for updation of various modules of Mining Tenement System. To assist during plant/field visits and collection of samples. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
JUNIOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANT
To assist in conducting mineral beneficiation, mineral characterization in the laboratory and beneficiation plant. Assist in preparation of feed samples and various reagents. To prepare and draw samples, keep watch on the performance of machines/equipments and instruments. To assist in maintaining the record of beneficiation test work, mineral characterization study report and analysis results of ores/minerals. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.
Laboratory Assistant
Maintenance of Laboratory and Plant equipments and accessories. Arranging apparatus and equipments in the laboratory and plant for conducting beneficiation tests, mineralogical study and chemical analysis of ores and minerals. To keep watch on operations/running of machinery, equipment and instruments. Handling of bulk samples, glassware, chemicals, and reagents. Preparation of samples viz. crushing, grinding, rock/ore cutting, thin/polished section, mounted polished mould, pulverization etc. To assist in collection and drawing of samples in the laboratory and plant for study and analysis. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.
Senior Laboratory Attendant
To keep watch on operations/running of machinery, equipments and instruments. Handling of bulk samples, glassware, chemicals, heavy liquids etc. Unloading of ores, weighing, collection and drawing of samples. Crushing, grinding, rock/ore cutting, pulverization, preparation of thin/polished section, mounted polished mould, regents etc. for beneficiation test, mineralogical study and chemical analysis of ores/minerals. Arrangement and movement/shifting of apparatus, machinery and equipments for experiments and analysis. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.
Laboratory Attendant
Preparation of samples viz. crushing, grinding, rock/ore cutting, thin/polished section, mounted polished mould, pulverization etc for beneficiation test work, mineralogical study and chemical analysis of ores/minerals in the Laboratory and Plant. Unloading of ores and weighing. To assist in collection and drawing of samples. Arrangement and movement/shifting of apparatus, machinery and equipments for experiments and analysis. Handling of bulk samples, glassware, chemicals, heavy liquids etc. To keep apparatus, equipments and working space in neat and tidy condition. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.
CHIEF CHEMIST
To work as head of Chemical discipline. Responsible for planning, co-ordination and monitoring the work of chemical laboratories for analysis of rocks, ores, minerals, beneficiation products and environmental sample. Supervision of activities of analytical work and functioning of chemical Laboratories. To guide subordinates in analytical work and result interpretation. Monitoring of work related to requirement of instruments, chemicals, glassware, spares, accessories, maintenance and repairing of instruments for smooth functioning of chemical laboratory. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
SUPERINTENDING CHEMIST
To conduct and supervise work of chemical analysis of rocks, ores, minerals, beneficiation products and environmental sample. Planning and monitoring the work of chemical laboratory. To evolve and standardize analytical methods for rapid and accurate determination of different elements in the samples. To guide subordinates in analytical work and result interpretation. Work related to requirement of instruments, chemicals, glassware, spares, accessories, maintenance and repairing the instruments in the chemical laboratory. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
SENIOR CHEMIST
To conduct chemical analysis of rocks, ores, minerals, beneficiation products and environmental samples by classical methods and instrumental techniques for major, minor & trace elements. Interpretation of results. Supervise analytical work carried out by the subordinates and to coordinate maintenance and repairing related work of the instruments in the Chemical Laboratory. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
CHEMIST
To carry out chemical analysis of rocks, ores, minerals, beneficiation products and environmental samples by classical method and instrumental techniques for major, minor and trace elements and interpretation of results. Calibration of instruments using suitable procedure and standardization of analytical methods. Maintenance and repairing related work of the instruments in the Chemical Laboratory. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
ASSISTANT CHEMIST
To carry out chemical analysis of rocks, ores, minerals, beneficiation products and environmental samples using classical method and instrumental techniques for major, minor and trace elements. To carry out standardization of analytical solutions. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
JUNIOR MECHANCIAL ENGINEER
Responsible for scrutiny and finalization of engineering drawings pertaining to Mineral processing equipments. To carry out planning and designing for installation and commissioning of equipments in the laboratory and plant. Coordinating and monitoring operation, repair & maintenance of machinery and equipments in the laboratory and plant. Supervising the work of assemble/disassemble, installations and commissioning of various equipment. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
Mechanical Foreman
To carry out installation and commissioning, fabrication, repair, maintenance and assemble/disassemble of machinery and equipments in the laboratory and plant. To assist in carrying out operation of machinery and equipments in the plant. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.
Mechanical Supervisor
To carry out fabrication, repair, maintenance and overhauling of machinery and equipments in the laboratory and plant. Arranging and connecting machineries and equipments in the laboratory and plant during test work. To check the functioning of machines/equipments after their repairs/overhaul & purchase. Installations, commissioning and reassemble of various machines and equipments etc. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.
Electrical Foreman
Routine inspection of all electrical gadgets in the laboratory and plant and checking on safety aspects. To conduct electrical jobs viz. installation, repairs, maintenance of electrical components and apparatus of various equipments and instruments in the laboratory and plant. Arranging electrical connections of equipments during laboratory and plant test work. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.
Electrical Supervisor
To carry out repair work of all electrical components/apparatus of equipments and instruments in the laboratory and plant. Arranging electrical connections for installation of new equipments/ instruments and during test work in the laboratory and plant. Maintenance of all electrical gadgets in the laboratory and plant. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.
MINING & MINERALS STATISTICS DISCIPLINE:
Chief Controller of Mines (Mineral Economics & Mineral Statistics)
The Chief Controller of Mines (Mineral Economics & Mineral Statistics) is the head of the Mining and Mineral Statistics Division and Controlling officer in respect of all officers and staff of Mining & Mineral Statistics Division, IBM. To Supervise and co-ordinate the statistical work pertaining to the mining and quarrying sector. To finalise the targets for the division and monitorits achievements. To guide the officers of the division in technical and administrative aspects of their work and issuing directives for maintaining uniformity of approach, adoption of clear cut objectives. To co-ordinate with other divisions of IBM and assist the Controller General, IBM in the matters relating to Mining and Mineral Statistics.
Director (S)
Directorsact as the technical & administrative supervisors of officers and staff working under them and render guidance.To act as in-charge of the units (MCDR Unit and Co-ordination & Publication Unit).To finalise of data related to various publications, namely, Monthly Statistics of Mineral Production, Statistical Profiles of Minerals, Indian Mineral Industry at a Glance and Indian Minerals Year Bookand other information disseminated by the Division.To finalise, in consultation with Divisional Head, Index of Mineral Production data, GVA for GDP/SDP, WPI data, the replies related to RTI matters and court cases, ministry references, parliament questions and various other references received in the Division. To assist Deputy Director General in meeting the targets set for the Division.
Deputy Mineral Economist(S)
DMEs act as the technical & administrative supervisors of officers and staff working under them and render guidance. To monitor the progress of respective sections of the Mining and Mineral Statistics Division like Metallic, Non-metallic, AncillaryStatistics, Foreign Trade Statistics, Co-ordination, Publication and General Administration. To carry out sample scrutiny of Statutory Returns and non-statutory data received in the division. To scrutinise the compiled data sheets related to various publications and other data disseminated by the Division and draft replies related to RTI matters and court cases, ministry references, parliament questions and various other references received in the Division.
Assistant Mineral Economist (S)
Responsible for administrative and technical supervision of the work of SSOs/JSOs and Ministerial Staff working under them and providing technical guidance to them.To carry out sample scrutiny of Statutory Returns and data received from non-statutorysources. Responsible for scrutinising the data sheets for Monthly Statistics of Mineral Production, Statistical Profiles of Minerals, Indian Minerals Industry at a Glance, Indian Mineral Year Book, Cabinet Summary, Index of Mineral Production, Wholesale Price Index, answering to Parliament Questions, preparation of GDP/SDP for mining and quarrying sector, Foreign Trade data for mineral sector, data on minor minerals,preparation of State-wise Average Sale Price of Minerals by grades for which royalty chargeable at ad valorem basis not linked to any international bench mark and other prices data, etc. Responsible for providing assistance to CPIO for providing information under RTI Act.Responsible for preparing draft replies related to court cases and various other references received in the Division.
Junior/Senior Statistical Officer
Responsible for getting the primary and secondary data related to Mining and Mineral Statistics in the form of Statutory Returns and other non-statutory sources. In order to ensure coverage and data quality scrutinise the Returns and other data and correspond/communicate with the concerned wherever required in consultation with their supervisory officers. Responsible for maintenance of related records and updation of mine directory. ADMINISTRATION DISCIPLINE:
Director (Administration)
The Director (Administration) will be the over-all in-charge of the Administration Division. His duties involve supervision and monitoring of the work relating to Establishment, Recruitment, Administration, Stores, Vigilance, Legal Affairs, Cash, Accounts, Audit & Budget of Indian Bureau of Mines. He will assist and advise the Controller General or other Senior Officers as may be required on administrative, legal and accounts matter from time to time. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
Chief Administrative Officer
The Chief Administrative Officer will supervise and monitor the work relating to administration and establishment including budget, accounts matter, stores and legal affairs of IBM. He will assist the Controller General, Director (Administration) and other senior officers on the above matters as and when required. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
The Senior Administrative Officer will be in-charge of Administration, Establishment, Legal affairs, Budget, Accounts and Stores matters of Indian Bureau of Mines. He will assist the Controller General, Director (Administration), CAO & Other Senior Officers as may be required on Administrative, Establishment, Legal and Accounts matters from time to time. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
The Administrative Officer has to carry out all such administrative, accounts, establishment, legal affairs, budget and financial work of Indian Bureau of Mines as are placed under his charge, and assist the Controller General, Director (Administration), CAO, SAO or any senior officers of Indian Bureau of Mines in the above matters. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
The Assistant Administrative Officer has to carry out all such administrative, accounts, establishment work, legal affairs, budget and financial work of Indian Bureau of Mines as are placed under his charge, to work as Drawing and Disbursing Officer and assist the Controller General, Director (Administration), CAO, SAO & Administrative Officer or any senior officers of Indian Bureau of Mines as may be required in the above matters. Assistant
The Assistant has to carry out all such administrative, accounts, legal affairs, budget and financial work. Supervision of office works relating to Establishment, Accounts matters and responsible to assist the Administrative Officer or any other officer in-charge of the Section. Upper Division Clerk
All case works connected with Administration, Establishment and Accounts. Also to perform the following duties :-

Deputy Director (O.L.)
To assist Controller General, IBM in implementation of Official Language Act; acquaint officers and staff with provisions of O.L. Act and rules and orders made thereunder and ensure its compliance; monitoring of implementation work of official language in all the subordinate office of IBM, assist work-related to Parliamentary Committee on Official Language, Hindi Salahkar Samiti etc., apart from translation; and carrying out any other duties as may be assigned by the Rajbhasha Adhikari/Controller General or senior officers.
Assistant Director (O.L.)
He is responsible for vetting the translation work and supervising the translation arrangements, ensuring the use of Hindi for obligatory purposes as required by the official languages act as amended, implementation of the instructions issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the progressive use of Hindi for various official purposes, effective working of the departmental official languages implementation committees, looking after the research, reference and coordination work for the increasing use of Hindi in the official work by preparing help and reference literature, arranging workshop training and giving necessary help and guidance to the officers/staff for learning Hindi and using it in official work. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
Senior Translation Officer
To undertake the translation into Hindi of the technical and other publication of the Bureau, assisting the publication unit in proof reading of Hindi publication prepare publicity material in Hindi. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.
Junior Translation Officer
To undertake the translation in Hindi of Technical and other publication of the Bureau, assisting the publication unit in proof reading of Hindi, publications, prepare publicity matters in Hindi. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.
Senior Stores Officer
The Senior Stores Officer is responsible for supervising all works relating to purchase of equipment and instruments listed in the Govt. input/UNDP Input etc. in the project document for establishment and operations of Mineral Processing Laboratory/Mining Tenament System/Remote Sensing Laboratory/Offices of Indian Bureau of Mines in India. He has to monitor work relating to inviting tenders/quotations for purchase of all equipment’s instruments, preparation of comparative Statement, placing of supply orders and making arrangements for coordinating with other agencies involved in inspection of these items. He has to monitor all necessary arrangements for receipt of machineries/instruments, stock-taking, inventory, procurement of spares and accessories and day to day supplies alongwith disposal of various stores/vehicles of IBM. He is responsible to monitor store procedures carried out in respect of General Financial Rules & CVC guidelines etc. in all offices of IBM & supervising implementation of Integrity Pact(IP) & appointment of Independent External Monitors(IEMs) in IBM. He shall be responsible for smooth functioning of procurement through e-portals such as GeM, CPP etc. in IBM offices. He is responsible to assist planning activity & provide assistance in replying policy matters to senior officers of IBM & provide guidance to staff of stores related to procurement & Ministry references/PQ etc. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
Stores Officer
The Stores Officer is responsible for monitoring & handling all correspondences relating to purchase of equipment and instruments listed in the Govt. input/UNDP Input in the project document for establishment of Mineral Processing Laboratory in India. Assistant Stores Officer
The Assistant Stores Officer is overall responsible for proper receipts, issue storage, maintenance and accounting of Stores. He will also be responsible for security of store. He will be responsible for provision to meet day-by-day requirement of all divisions by placing orders against GeM Contract or by local purchase etc with latest rules & procedures in vogue. He will arrange disposal of unserviceable stores after observing the procedural formalities, such as survey reports and write off sanction of the competent authority. He is responsible to carry out procurement though e-portals such as GeM, CPP etc. for smooth functioning of official works in IBM offices. He is responsible to prepare draft replies in respect of Ministry references /PQs/policy etc. related to procurement matters by assisting to Senior Officers. Any other duties which may be assigned by the Controller General, IBM or other senior officers.
Store Keeper (Technical)
The Store Keeper (Technical) is responsible for handling of mechanical equipment and appliances maintenance of stores, accounts, ledgers, plant running log books etc. Also, he will assist Senior Officers to make correspondence & planning activities to Ministry/other offices of IBM as required. He will prepare & submit the reports/returns timely as a routine. He is required to look after the day to day activities of section in coordination to other staff members to report to officer-in-charge(OIC). Any other work assigned by the superior authority.
Assistant Store Keeper (Technical) / Store Clerk
1. Receipt and issue of stores.
2. Maintenance of stock Books including ledgers/Registers of daily issue and receipts of stores.
3. Binding of Stores including maintenance of Bin cards.
4. Cars & other utility vehicles alongwith preservation of stores including safe custody of stores and physical verification of stores.
5. Maintenance of stores house, including fire precautions in the stores house.
6. Preparation of vouchers including pricing thereof.
7. Fixing of Maximum and minimum stock level and entry in ledgers and bin cards.
8. Preparation of lists for periodic/monthly provisioning & reports/returns timely.
9. Conversant with rules regarding local purchase, procedures for indenting on GeM/CPP, contract/orders, disposal of unserviceable, stores, writing off of stores items etc.

Principal Private Secretary
Taking dictation and transcription of the scripts of CG, IBM. To deal with Confidential matters/Complaints etc. Arranging Conferences/Delegations and meetings. To keep liaison with Ministry, Heads of Divisions/Zones/Regions/Sections etc. and various outside organization. Handling telephone calls, receiving visitors, tour programme/travel arrangements, maintaining the papers required to be retained by the officer and maintaining engagement diary etc. Handling confidential and secret letters/dak/files, handling parliamentary work, security of information. Opening of files, Maintenance of current files, Sending of routine reminders and acknowledgements. To look after day to day administration, procurement etc. relating to requirement of the office of CG, IBM. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.

Maintenance and driving of heavy and light vehicles. He shall be responsible to carry out timely servicing of assigned vehicle & maintain/update the logbook alongwith maintenance register of vehicle. He is required to keep himself update with the latest technology/features to maintain the fitness of vehicles. He shall be responsible for maintaining tools & other fixtures updated in allotted vehicle & handover properly to next official on transfer/superannuation etc. alongwith list of the same. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.
NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABOVE, ALL THE ABOVE OFFICERS WILL DISCHARGE DUTIES WHICH MAY BE ASSIGNED BY THE CONTROLLER GENERAL, INDIAN BUREAU OF MINES OR BY ANY OTHER OFFICER DULY AUTHORISED BY HIM.
